The world of rental can get very complicated when it comes to terminology. In some countries such as the UK and parts of Australasia Equipment Rental is known as Hire. In other countries, Hire refers to the process of employing someone. This is a short list of the most common terminology changes for English speaking countries, if you know of any more please add them as comments and we’ll update the article.

  • Rental is also referred to as Dry Rental, Hire, Plant Hire, Equipment Hire
  • Operated Equipment is also referred to as Wet Rental, Operated Plant, Hire with Operator, Rental with Operator
  • Rental Rates are also referred to as Hire Rates, Hire Prices, Hire Charges, Rental Charges
  • Utilization can also be referred to as Dollar Utilization, $ Utilization, Utilisation, Physical Utilization, Financial Utilization and Machine Utilization.
  • Sub-rentals are also known as Re-rentals, third party rentals, sub hire, cross hire, Re-hire, external hire, external rental.

The rentalresult rental software handles all of these different terminologies through the java screen resources. These allow us to provide language specific translation, but also sometimes business specific translations where an individual company has very definite terminology requirements.
